De Rhuys Nicol

Since 1928, DE RHUYS NICOL has produced both artisanal Breton craft cider (which is unpasteurized and without preservatives) as well as an apple juice. Both of which use traditional growing, pressing and processing methods. This small family company has been delighting customers for three generations and is located at the gates of the Rhuys Peninsula and the Gulf of Morbihan, in France.

Andre NICOL, the founder, mainly distributed his production in barrels to coffee shops, restaurants and thirsty customers. Back in those days the main drink in France was cider. Over the years however, wine and beer have overtaken the humble apple. A trend we seek to reverse.

DE RHUYS NICOL has evolved to meet changing consumer tastes. In 1976, Jean NICOL, Andre’s nephew, planted orchards by selecting local apple varieties to achieve a specific taste profile in his cider. This has helped contribute to a finer and more elaborate drinking experience.

Today, Didier and Jean-Michel (son of Jean) juice over 800 tonnes of apples every autumn.

De Rhuys Nicol Doux Cider 3% abv (6x330ml)
€17.85

This little bottle contains a really fruity cider with light acidity and sweetness. The fermentation process brings out a rich roundness with a refined elegance.

Indeed, this traditional French cider is made using the keeving process. As such, it undergoes a short, controlled fermentation, which keeps a lot of the original natural sugars within it.

You can appreciate it with desserts and barbecues.
